About the artist:
From a young age, I've always gravitated towards art. It was something innate and as natural as breathing. It was a piece of me I could share endlessly with others.

My love of hispanic folk art began in high school. These pieces of art brought me closer to my grandma and our Mexican heritage. It also gave me peace and perspective when my grandpa passed away. I love experimenting with movement and shadow. Especially as it to relates to fabrics. Acrylics have always been my medium of choice. I hope one day to expand my work into oil paint.

I take great pride in my Texas roots. I grew up in Katy, Texas. I spent many summers in Corpus Christi with my family. I moved to San Antonio for my undergraduate studies. I graduated from the University of the Incarnate Word with a bachelors in Vision Science and a minor in art. After undergrad, I moved back home to Houston for my graduate education at the University of Houston College of Optometry. I spent most of my semester breaks painting commissions. I was also fortunate enough to be selected for two gallery showings during my graduate education.

After graduate school, I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for residency training. It was in Albuquerque where I was able to ignite my passion once more for art while pursuing my Optometry career. My greatest art achievement was selling "La Maravilla" to the City of Albuquerque.

I felt the call to move back home to Texas after two years. I am proud to call Austin my new home! I plan to plant roots and continue to make pieces that move people.

Erin Flores Fine Art

"Art has always brought me joy, purpose, and community. My primary goal is to share with you, the viewer, joy through art."

Erin Flores Fine Art is centered around Dia De Los Muertos. You will find my art captures life through dance and laughter. This includes movement induced by flowing fabrics, shadows, and contrast. The scenes are set against moonlit skies providing a sense of vagueness and surrealism. The mood is enhanced by vibrant flowers, patterns, and butterflies. The paintings capture the lively and energetic nature of skeletons. A dichotomous relationship to the skeletons association with death. A contrast of life in the possibility of death and departure. Inevitability, my goal is to invoke a feeling of happiness, wonder, and possibility.
